Koza-Malanka
A visual identity for a string-and-bow rave in Kyiv celebrating Malanka, a Ukrainian winter folk party. Traditionally, Malanka is a time to step outside everyday social roles, dress as ritual characters, and bid farewell to the old year while welcoming the new. Koza-Malanka brings this folk carnival into an urban setting through music, dance, and collective celebration.
At the heart of the identity are illustrations I painted by hand on silk using silk paints. Their wild, expressive character reflects the spirit of Malanka: transformation, mischief, and the freedom to become someone else. Translated into a visual identity, these handmade images connect the energy of the folk ritual with the intensity of a contemporary rave.
